Will Solar PV Panels increase the value of my home?

Installing Solar PV panels has shown to increase your home’s value, shows research carried out in Europe and the United States.  The research shows that homes typically sell for £6,500 to £13,000 more than comparable homes without PV. The value is often more than the initial investment to install the system to begin with.

Heat Generation Grants Closed – Good or Bad?

The Government announced that heat generation grants from the Low Carbon Buildings Program (LCBP) are now closed to new entrants.
On the face of it this is bad news for heat generating renewables, however most of us were already aware that these grants would be brought to a close within the next 8 months due to [...]

Solar Panel Cost

The primary question that most people are interested in at this moment in time is “What are the costs associated with Solar Panels?”
The first thing to determine is which type of panel you are most suitable for you. As a general rule of thumb we would advise that solar thermal panels (for heating domestic [...]

Solar Water Heating Panels

This type of solar collector is designed to use the sun's energy to generate hot water for both domestic and commercial use. It does this by transferring heat from the panel to a storage cylinder. This type of solar panel does not generate electricity, however they can be integrated with a heat pump system. Click the link below to find out about how the government will pay system owners to generate heat, the new scheme is called the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI)

Solar PhotoVoltaic PV Electricity Panels

Solar electricity panels generate electricity rather than hot water. These systems can be grid connected or independent for isolated locations. Both Wind Turbines and Solar Electricity panels can generate electricity that can be sold back to your electricity supplier. Since April 2010 feed in tariffs are available that pay larger sums to system owners, this can give a return on investment of around 10%.

Ground Source Heat Pumps

Ground source (geothermal) heat pumps extract heat from the ground and water outside your home. They use this heat to provide you with central heating and hot water. The systems offered by Intelligent Energy Solutions have efficiencies that can be more than 400%. A conventional boiler is approximately 70-90% efficient. These systems can also be integrated with solar panels for assisting with water heating or generating electricity. Find out about the new Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI)by clicking the link below.

Air Source Heat Pumps

Air source heat pumps extract heat from the air outside your home. Similar to ground source systems, they use this heat to provide you with central heating and hot water. Intelligent Energy Solutions are approved installers of the Mitsubishi Ecodan air source heat pump. This system has efficiencies of more than 300% and can give you massive savings off your existing fuel bills. The new RHI can pay more than £1500 per year to system owners, click the link below for more details.

Wind Turbines

Wind turbines, along with solar photovoltaic panels, generate electricity. With the correct location wind turbines can be very cost effective. Intelligent Energy Solutions will only fit a wind turbine in an suitable location. Payback for wind turbines is extremely attractive for systems in the correct location. Find out more about the new Feed In Tariff in our product journal.

Rainwater Harvesting

Rainwater harvesting systems are ideal for new build or renovation projects. They can halve the amount of water used in a home and can be used in combination with solar panels, heat pumps and wind turbines.
