The Millennium Ribble Link is the best way to see the area, connecting the once-isolated Lancaster Canal to the main navigable system. This link runs around the outskirts of Preston, and gently flows into the River Ribble. The Millennium Ribble Link was opened in 2002 and contains nine locks and is only four miles long, however it is tidal, and this governs its operating times.
