Underfloor Heating Suspended Floors

There are a number of options for fitting underfloor heating on a suspended floor. The main options are as follows:-
  • Between the joists with dry sand cement mix screed
  • Between the joists with diffuser plates
  • Battened floor over original floor with dry sand cement mix or diffuser plates

Between the joists with dry sand cement mix screed

Between Joists Underfloor Heating

This arrangement enables effective underfloor heating to be fitted without increasing the height of the floor.

Similar benefits to system above but diffuser plates offer a light weight solution which is quicker to install than a dry screed.  Diffuser plates have the disadvantage with heat pumps of requiring a higher flow temperature than a screeded system.

Battened floor over original floor with dry sand cement mix or diffuser plates

The diagram shows a solid floor with battens but this technique can be applied very easily to a suspended floor as well where the battens are fixed directly to the finished suspended floor covering.
